Review and Buy: Nylabone DuraChew X Bone

Mollie is my 18-month-old miniature schnauzer and the love of my husband’s life. She’s his little girl. It’s endearing to see how much he loves her and wants what is best for her.

Our vet recently told us that for her age, Mollie has a dangerous build-up of tartar on her molars that he doesn’t usually see on dogs her age. This concerned us and we set out to take her oral health more seriously.

Review and Buy: Doggielawn Dog Potty Grass

This is a unique product – dog potty, real grass. On our last trip, we walked through the Philadelphia airport and I was delighted to see a rest area for dogs. It was a fake lawn with a toy fire hydrant. Sure enough, dogs were attracted to it and actually used the lawn as their bathroom. I wondered why they didn’t sell these for home use. Well, it turns out they do.

Top 5 Teeth Cleaning Products For Dogs

I realized people seemed to like my 5 Toughest Dog Toys for Aggressive Chewers post. So, I wanted to try another roundup. Today we’re looking at my top 5 teeth cleaning products for dogs.

Our little Schnauzer, Mollie, is not even two years old yet. Our vet said she had one of the worst cases of buildup he’d ever seen. Simply because she uses her front teeth to chew her bones, they don’t work to crack off the plaque on her back teeth. Although many people may not consider teeth cleaning for dogs essential, your dog can develop periodontal disease. Sure, their teeth and diet are different, without the sugary foods which cause people so much trouble.

Review and Buy: Smart Pet Love Snuggle Puppy

I brought home Max Sr as an 8-week old puppy and placed him in his crate the first night. He howled and whined the entire night. After speaking to my vet the following day, I was given the recommendation of placing a small desk clock or analog clock with a towel wrapped around it to mimic a mama dog’s heartbeat. He also advised playing soothing music.  This worked.

Buy and Review: LickiMat by Hyper Pet

Mollie, my 18-month-old miniature schnauzer, can’t hold her licker. She licks the carpet, the bedspread, the furniture, leaving wet spots in her wake. On a recent vet visit, we asked our veterinarian why she does this. He answered with two different possibilities. First, stomach issues and second, boredom. We ruled out stomach issues with some tests. That left us with boredom. If you search for reasons why dogs lick you will find that it releases pleasurable endorphins that provide the dog feelings of comfort. Mollie was essentially sucking her thumb. Keeping this in mind, I went on a search for something to replace the furniture and carpet for her to lick and found this dog lick mat called Licki Mat.

Review and Buy: Benebone Bacon Flavored Dog Toy

A bacon bone! I wasn’t familiar with Benebone but found their bacon-flavored toy on Amazon. They look like a well-respected dog product company out of New York. My oldest dog, Ace, has a pretty restrictive diet. But in the day, bacon treats were his go-to snack. He can sometimes be a picky eater. But bacon, that always hit the spot for him. So when I found a chew toy that is flavored with bacon, well, that’s not a problem with his diet. So I bought it.
